Statute of “Carabela” Press Centre and Sailing Fleet

Statute of “Carabela” Press Centre and Sailing Fleet

Statute of “Carabela” Press Centre and Sailing Fleet Adopted in late 60-s XX Century Winds and waves wouldn’t forgive the mistakes that you make and it’s too late to learn during the hailstorm. So we should know the marine affairs in advance. A ship has only one captain and his word is law Night and day, at any time of the year and in all weathers each one of us is ready to fulfill the tasks by the editorial staff, press centre and sailing fleet. I will do my best to perform any task properly in due time. I will fight any injustice, infamy and cruelty wherever I face them. I will not wait until someone else defends the truth before me. I will never...

A Story about the Squadron’s Ship Bell and the Supercrafty Couple

A Story about the Squadron’s Ship Bell and the Supercrafty Couple

In 2011 the “Carabela” squadron will be 50. We have started to get prepared for this significant event since 2009. We sort the photos, reread log-books of the previous years and the texts of the squadron’s wall newspapers. We find interesting materials, which we want to share with you, our faithful reader. On the 30th of March, 2009, the commodore of the squadron found the materials of an old special edition of the “Ankerok” newspaper for the Children Centre “Artek” on her computer. “One day Igor Litvinov was running through the squadron annoying everyone with the question what the “ship bell” (Note: in Russian it is called “rynda”)...

History of Fleet at “Carabela” Squadron

History of Fleet at “Carabela” Squadron

We have lessons on the History of Fleet in our squadron. What kind of classes are they? To my mind, these two words speak for themselves: history is history, and fleet is fleet even in Africa. Well, now jokes aside. Speaking seriously, we carry out classes on the History of Fleet for senior children of the squadron. What for? To my mind, any boy or girl is really interested to learn something about Columbus’s carvels, or on what ships there are in China, or about the history of courageous Vikings… The whole programme is designed in a special way so the fleet is studied starting with simple “boats” up to beautiful frigates and brigantines. And seeing...

«FIGA» or Historical Heroic Artistic Films

«FIGA» or Historical Heroic Artistic Films

The acronym “FIGA” in Russian stands for “Films Historical Heroic Artistic”. The film studio with such an exotic name has been working in the squadron since 1964. Sometimes this acronym was interpreted as an answer to numerous skeptics, who said “You won’t be able to do anything!” (Note: in colloquial Russian FIGA means that you won’t be able to do anything). “We will!” – answered “Carabela” members and produced a new film. The first films of the studio were shot on the 8-millimetre film, and a little bit later (in 70s and 80s) the 16-millimetre film started to be used. Before video cameras appeared all the films produced by...

Film Studio «FIGA»’s Filmography

Film Studio «FIGA»’s Filmography

Working in the film studio helps “Carabela” members to cultivate an active civic stand, develops self-respect, honesty, responsibility for the words said or a character played. For example, such films as “Три Мушкетёра” (Three Musketeers) and  “Три мушкетёра или 20 лет спустя” (Three Musketeers or 20 years after), “Орлиная круча” (“Aquiline Steep”) tell about the historic events and their heroes at the same time are examples of courage and honour. One of the latest films of the studio, “The Planet” (“Планета”) based on V.P. Krapivin’s short story shows the process of...

Historical Note about Press Center

Historical Note about Press Center

The press-centre of “Carabela” Squadron was founded in early October 1965 when the first official task of the magazine “Pioneer” to the Central Union of All-Union Pioneer’s Organization (Moscow City) was received. On November 9, 1965, the official certificate confirming the status of “Veter” Press Centre was received in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg). Since then all the documents of the press-centre have were issued in two printed forms: wall newspapers and publications in external (large) press. In every 100 issues the wall-newspapers are renamed. It happens because the life around us changes. The newcomers join the squadron...

«Siny Krab» Birth

«Siny Krab» Birth

The literary almanac appeared in the squadron in 1972. There were two famous persons among its developers: President of YNPRESS agency, Sergey Borisovitch Tsymbalenko, and writer Natalia Zorevna Solomko. Nowadays Sergey and Natalia are living and working in Moscow. In seventies they lived in Sverdlovsk and worked on a voluntary basis as instructors of “Carabela” squadron. Sergey Tsymbalenko can still recall his first visit to the squadron and work on “Siny Krab” as follows: – When at the university I was a bit more than twenty years old and decided to visit the famous writer. I was prepared properly wearing a nice suit and comfortable shoes. But...

The Documents Necessary for Entering the Squadron

The Documents Necessary for Entering the Squadron

The “Carabela” squadron has been an open organization for children since the moment of its creation in 1961. Any boy or girl aged from 8 to 12 can become the squadron’s candidate. To do it it’s enough to come to the squadron and tell about your desire to be a member of the squadron. In general it is possible for anyone to become a part of the squadron, but only children of the mentioned above age can master the program of “Carabela” completely. However the children who prefer to express their ideas using obscene words or to show their importance with the help of smoking won’t stay in the squadron for long. So, if you have seriously decided...

The Rules of Conduct on the Base of Ekaterinburg Sea School

The Rules of Conduct on the Base of Ekaterinburg Sea School

A lot of guests come to the squadron frequently – both to the premises on 44, Mira Street and to the base of Ekaterinburg sea school (ESS). The “Carabela” members always greet the guests with joy even if such a meeting wasn’t planned. When you come to the sailing practice as a guest, one of the instructors or commanders will instruct you on the safety rules on water (you can read or download it in the part “For “Carabela” members”) and on the rules of conduct on the ESS base, which we cite here. On the territory of the ESS in “Carabela” it is PROHIBITED to: run on the piers in close proximity of water; be on a yacht without individual...

Helloy, you are in our squadron

Helloy, you are in our squadron

We always interact on a first-name basis because in “Carabela” everyone is on equal terms: children and adults. Now everything may be of interest to you: uniform, sparkling stripes, marine devices, trip and adventure stories, incl. foil clank. And it would be unfair not to warn you. The life “Carabela” squadron is not a holiday. Sometimes each newcomer may be bored with his uniform, his foil may seem heavier than usual, and summer sailing trips – distant and wishful. There are some tense moments in “Carabela”. Sometimes there are very difficult and dull periods so long as the ability to control the sails, master the blade and work within the...
